Things to do... covid-19

The covid-19 illness is causing a stir in the United States, impacting some states more than others. In one way or another everyone is effect by this illness, whether the actual illness or limiting the thing you enjoy doing. For those of us in the PNW that use the outdoors as a energy release or a de-stressor, we are now unable to get out and enjoy mother nature. Campgrounds are closed, beaches are closed, and many state and national parks are following suit.
I have come up with a list of things we can do to help you still do what you enjoy and be ready when we can get back out in nature.

1. Organize, inventory, and clean your gear. For those of us in wet weather areas you can water proof your gear also.

2. Make your list of hikes or trips you want to accomplish for the year or future. I mean who doesn't like planning their adventures.

3. Begin a hiking journal. I started mine this year and I am in love.

4. Find new hiking or nature challenges. Who doesn't want to step up their adventures or push themselves.

5. Find and order guide pamphlets or magazines for areas you want to visit. I have received a ton in the mail and you can download many.

6. Get some motivating outdoor books. I will be doing this one for sure. Whether fictional, guide books, or real stories you can learn some new skills and day dream about being where ever it is you are reading about.

7. Search and join hiking groups on social media outlets. Many of them that I am apart of have been giving great updates to current events, many are also trying to help people keep their minds off current events with fun posts and conversations.

8. I'm not a huge tv buff but sometimes you get bored. Shows like Expedition Unknown are entertaining and educational. There are many many shows that are outdoor and adventure related.

If you have any other suggestions let me know!
